It’s common for professional athletes to wade into the political waters.

What’s not common is for them to attack Democrats.

And that’s why everyone was surprised when Aaron Rodgers slammed this top Democrat with a brutal truth about a career-ending failure.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is a California native who is not happy about how Governor Gavin Newsom is destroying small businesses with his Coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

Rodgers discussed his efforts to raise money for struggling business owners in a wide-ranging conversation with the Zenith Watches, a luxury watch brand.

“Been doing some work actually in my hometown in Northern California as well to try and help some people through a small business fund that we started,” Rodgers stated.

Rodgers unleashed on Governor Newsom for placing restrictions on the lives of citizens that are supposedly designed to stop the spread of the virus, but that Newsom went on to violate.

“I mean, they put these rules in place . . . they’re not even following their own rules,” Rodgers declared.

“How many people have gotten caught? Don’t travel, don’t leave the state. Oh, here’s so-and-so on a vacation. Oh, here’s so-and-so at a salon. Don’t eat out at a restaurant unless you’re wearing a mask and separate.”

“Oh, here’s a picture of the governor of California violating those rules. Oh, public schools are closed but I can send my kids to a private school in person. It’s like, I mean, for us to count on the government to help us out is becoming a joke at this point,” Rodgers concluded.

Newsom violating his own lockdown – most famously having a large group dinner at the French Laundry after demanding Californians stay home for Thanksgiving and not see their family members – is why Newsom is facing a possible recall election.

The frustration Rodgers expressed is shared by many residents of the Golden State.

And it could cost Newsom his job.
