The beginning of the 2021 NFL season has already been one for the ages.
Players are proving they are worth their contract, while others are being replaced, and an unlucky few are getting heartbreaking injuries. But for some . . . new alliances are being formed and old ones destroyed.
One such betrayal comes from former New England Patriots Wide Receiver Julian Edelman, who betrayed his former quarterback as the Bucs prepare to go head-to-head against the Patriots.
Tom Brady, along with tight end Rob Gronkowski, forged their careers in New England, Brady getting six Super Bowls while Gronk got three with the Pats.
However, last year both players started a new career in Tampa Bay playing for the Buccaneers, and there they earned yet another Super Bowl together.
This year, the reigning champions face off against the New England Patriots in Week 4.
And ever since this bout was scheduled, the sports world has been abuzz about the return of Brady and Gronk to their hometown.
But don’t expect the fans to be happy about it.
One such fan is Julian Edleman.
When asked about who he would cheer for, Edelman replied, “To Foxboro, man.”
“I hope Tom does great,” Edelman added, “I hope everyone stays healthy. I hope (Rob Gronkowski) does great. I hope it’s just a high-scoring battle and maybe a little Mac (Jones) comes out. Who knows. We’ll see.”
Edelman went on to say “I want the Patriots to win. But I also want them to do well, Gronk and Tom, so we’ll see.”
Don’t expect New England fans to be so gracious.
The Bucs are off to a very hot start while the Patriots are showing a lot of promise with rookie quarterback Mac Jones impressing critics.
One thing is for certain . . . all eyes will be on Foxboro Sunday.
