LeBron James is one of the most scrutinized athletes on the planet.
Anything James does is liable to erupt into controversy.
And LeBron James made one boneheaded mistake that he instantly regretted.
This past offseason the Los Angeles Lakers signed 37-year-old forward Carmelo Anthony, 32-year-old guard Kent Bazemore, 33-year-old guard Wayne Ellington, 36-year-old forward Trevor Ariza, and 35-year-old center Dwight Howard.
The Lakers also traded for 33-year-old guard Russell Westbrook.
Those veterans joined holdovers 36-year-old center Marc Gasol and 36-year-old LeBron James to form one of the oldest teams in NBA history.
In a post on social media, James attacked critics who believe that the ancient Lakers will run out of gas in the postseason, as professional sports tends to be a young man’s game.

In the 2021 playoffs, the Lakers got run off the court by the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the playoffs.
That was the first time LeBron James ever exited the playoffs without winning a round.
LeBron James’ contract is up after the 2023 season.
His time in the NBA is running out as he will only stick around the play in the league with his son Bronnie, who is a junior in high school and one of the top prospects in his class.
The Lakers know they have a very narrow window and loaded up on veterans in the hopes of trying to wring one more title off of LeBron James before he retires.
