The coronavirus has hobbled the planet for 20 months.
Not even professional sports have been able to escape it.
But one NBA owner just infuriated the COVID regime with this announcement.
The Dallas Mavericks will be relaxing some of their COVID-19 protocols.
Fans seated within 15 feet of the court must show proof of vaccination, but any fans beyond that point will be allowed to attend without any vaccine passport.
The Mavericks said in a statement:
“The Mavericks, in conjunction with the NBA, announced today that beginning Nov. 15, fans seated beyond 15 feet of the court will no longer need to complete a Fan Health Survey to enter the game. Those same fans will also no longer need to submit proof of a negative COVID-19 test or full vaccination status within 48 hours of the game…The Mavericks released the updated guidelines after consulting with public health officials and analyzing current data and health trends. The decline in the average number of COVID-19 cases prompted team executives to re-evaluate the current protocols in place.”
The policy is still absurd – aerosols can travel beyond 15 feet – but the relaxing of prohibitions is a sign that people are more than fatigued with the COVID regime.
Deaths, hospitalizations, and cases are all down in Dallas.
Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has been in favor of draconian COVID measures, but even he is easing restrictions.
Not long ago, Cuban said:
“It is your choice. It is absolutely, positively up to you. But there are consequences that come with that . . . If you work for me, I require my employees to be vaccinated unless there’s a doctor’s reason where they can’t be. I don’t want my kids to be at risk, so the consequences of you not being vaccinated is I’m not going to shut the [expletive] up. I’m going to be in your mother [expletive] ear driving you mother[expletive]s crazy.”
But even old school liberals are getting exasperated by the pandemic hysteria.
Late night comic Bill Maher said that red states “have been a joy” while blue states remain a nuisance.
The Democrats’ fear-mongering about COVID is wearing thin.
It was the heart of Joe Biden’s campaign in 2020, but the message is attenuating.
Stadiums across the country have been packed, much to the dismay of Dr. Anthony Fauci and the COVID regime.
People are ready to resume their normal lives, and the Mavericks’ reversal is an expression of that reality.
