Cancel culture continues to infect every aspect of society.
Pro sports teams keep bending the knee for the “woke” Left.
And now one NFL team just ordered this major surrender to the left-wing outrage mob.
The Washington Redskins announced they are ending a 50-year tradition in 2020 and disbanding the team’s cheerleading squad.
In its place will be a dance team featuring men and women.
USA Today reported, “Instead, after more than 50 seasons with a consistent cheerleading presence, a coed dance squad will take the field for the WFT’s gameday entertainment. Petra Pope, the club’s newly hired senior adviser, told USA Today Sports on Tuesday that the new dance squad looks to become more modern and diverse, with a “skillset of being super athletic, which is what we’re really honing in on.”
Pope claimed the move to include men on the dance team was part of an effort for the team to expand its diversity and inclusion.
“We want to be more inclusive, so we are going to invite a coed entity (to audition),” Pope told USA Today. “We’re able to do more things with the strength of a male, and lifts, so that’s changed a great deal. The inclusivity, strength and interest of choreography has changed.”
The team said this change has nothing to do with 40 former cheerleaders making claims about sexual harassment that owner Daniel Snyder alleged were part of a smear campaign to force him to sell the team.
The Redskins already gave in to the outrage mob by dropping its iconic nickname in 2021.
Even though real fans will always call them the Redskins, the team will officially be referred to as the “Washington Football Team.”
Now fans can go watch a team with no nickname play bad football and be entertained by guys dancing around on the sidelines.
Sounds like a great Sunday.
