Ever since Colin Kaepernick began kneeling for the national anthem, sports at every level have been dominated by political protests.

But that may be coming to an end.

And one U.S. team shut down the national anthem protests for one unexpected reason.

There may have not been a more politically outspoken team than the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team.

Led by hardcore left-wing political activist Megan Rapinoe, the team openly feuded with Donald Trump during their run to win the 2019 Women’s World Cup because the team would kneel for the national anthem.

But now, in 2021, the team is no longer kneeling for the anthem and instead stands at attention.

After a recent game team member Crystal Dunn explained why.

“I think those that were collectively kneeling felt like we were kneeling to bring about attention to police brutality and systemic racism. I think we decided that moving forward we no longer feel the need to kneel because we are doing the work behind the scenes. We are combating systemic racism. And we never felt we were going to kneel forever, so there was always going to be a time that we felt it was time to stand. I think we’re all proud that we are doing the work behind the scenes and it was just a game that we felt we were ready to move into the next phase and just continuously fight for change,” Dunn told the press.

Dunn danced around the subject, but the unstated reason is because Donald Trump is no longer in office.

Athletes kneeling for the national anthem were about protesting Donald Trump as much as anything.

And now that Joe Biden is in office, these left-wing athletes don’t want to be seen running down America because now that President Biden is in charge.
