Nothing sucks more than calling the wrong number, or having somebody call you looking for somebody else.
It is bound to happen at some point.
But for these high schoolers, a wrong number turned into a once-in-a-lifetime meet and greet with their sports idols.
In what is usually a routine task, some members of the Notre Dame Freshman Prep School basketball team put together a group text in order to coordinate for some upcoming events.
But the group leader made a crucial mistake… one he will never forget.
The last number he entered for his buddy Lucas was off by one number, meaning some random person out there was now a member of the young men’s group text.
But this was no random person, instead they had mistakenly added Tampa Buccaneers, and reigning world champion cornerback, Sean Murphy-Bunting – or SMB for short.
SMB was quick to make his presence known by sending a selfie of him in the Buccaneers locker room to the chat.
Naturally, the teens thought this was too good to be true.
So SMB decided to up the stakes.
SMB Facetimed the group chat and introduced himself, proving to them that this was no joke.
He then handed his phone off to NFL legend and likely future hall-of-famer Rob Gronkowski who said hello to the kids, then handed it off to other Buccaneers greats like Richard Sherman and Leonard Fournette.
But it didn’t stop there.
Buccaneers running back Leornard Fournette handed the phone off to the GOAT himself, Tom Brady!
Brady went on to tell them “whats up fellas” and chatted for a little while.
After the Facetime call, Brady remarked that “I didn’t know who it was. [Leonard] said, ‘Here’s my boy’ or whatever he said. It was nice. It would have been nice for me when I had been in high school too.”
What a cool moment for these young athletes… certainly one they will never forget.
