The rise of Black Lives Matter has led to mounting pressure on the Washington Redskins to change the team name because millennials think it’s racist.

Several teams have already capitulated to the mob.

And Redskins owner Daniel Snyder made one move that has fans thinking he may finally cave on a name change.

The Washington Redskins are one of the original eight NFL teams. And now they’ve taken a step to erase part of their history.

The Redskins have removed a statue of former owner George Preston Marshall from outside of RFK Stadium.

Marshall owned the Redskins since the franchise’s inception and is responsible for moving the team to Washington, D.C.

The statue has been the source of controversy in recent days with pro-Black Lives Matter protesters spraying graffiti on it.

Under Marshall, the Redskins were one of the last franchises to integrate with black players.

PC Police Smell Blood in the Water

If the PC Police gain any victory – or sense any sign of weakness – they only push harder.

Now the mob wants to kick Marshall out of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and sees this as the chance to pounce on the Redskins team name.

The Washington Post and USA TODAY have published op-eds calling for the name change in the past few days.

Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser – who has become famous for ordering “Black Lives Matter” painted in the street in front of the White House – has joined their calls.

Will Daniel Snyder Hold Strong?

Snyder has rebuffed previous campaigns to change the team name, saying the name was intended to honor and show respect to Indians.

In 2016, a Washington Post poll showed that nine out of 10 Native Americans said they did NOT find it offensive that a football team was named the Redskins.

But the pressure is mounting. The team has only been to the playoffs in the last two-plus decades.

And last season they ranked 30th in terms of “cheeks in the seats.” Only Tampa Bay and Cincinnati had a lower percentage of stadium capacity filled with fans.

Now could be the time that Snyder decides to rebrand his team and destroy a classic franchise.
