Virtually every guy knows that at the end of the day, no one is going to have your back more than your mom.

At the same time, almost no one can put you in your place quicker than your mom, too.

And this MLB pitcher’s mom recently proved that you’re never too old – or successful – to have your mom set you straight.

At 6’8, 225-pounds, 27-year-old Tampa Bay Rays’ ace Tyler Glasnow is one of the best pitchers in baseball.

And on Wednesday night, he put together a masterful performance on the mound, striking out 10 batters over seven shutout innings in a 2-0 victory over the Athletics that improved his ERA to staggering 1.67 on the year.

Put simply, Glasnow is at the top of his game, and there are few athletes across all sports who are performing at as high of a level as he is right now.

But while everyone else is marveling at how well he is playing and placing him on a pedestal, none of that means anything to Glasnow’s mom when, in her eyes, he steps out of line.

After Rays center fielder Kevin Kiermaier made an incredible diving catch to preserve the shutout, Glasnow looked on in utter disbelief at his teammate’s eye-popping play.

However, in his astonishment at the catch, TV cameras happened to catch Glasnow letting more than a few choice words fly.

And by the time Glasnow got back to the clubhouse after his seven innings of work, waiting for him was a text message from his mom telling him that he had to stop cussing on TV.

“My mom texted me like, ‘You got to stop cussing on TV. Like, cover your mouth or something!’” Glasnow said after the game.

No praise for how well he performed, or even a “good game,” just a text to set her son straight about cussing on TV.

You absolutely have to love that reaction from Glasnow’s mom, because if most any guy is honest, that’s probably the same reaction their mom would have as well.

She’s obviously thrilled at how well her son is doing, but when push comes to shove, setting him straight is her job, and no matter how old or successful he becomes, she’s going to do just that.

Moms, man – you have to love them.
